IBVA was founded on august 12th of 1996, with 54 members, at a rented place on the neighborhood’s main street. It was a branch of “Igreja Batista do Garcia”, another church in Salvador, then it was emancipated, becoming the first evangelical church on the neighborhood of “Vilas do Atlântico”, with Pastor Marcos Prudencio Lopes elected for the presidency of the new church.

Soon after that, IBVA grew and moved to a new address on the same avenue, now at a restaurant that had recently been closed. This new space allowed the enlargement of the temple, and the organization of the Sunday School and the Kids Ministry. At that moment, we were already stablishing our missions program, with the creation of the Missionary Congress, the Missionary Council and with the opening of new branches on the nearest neighborhoods.

At the end of the 90’s, we invested on buying our own piece of land, so we could start the construction of IBVA and its facilities. On 2003, we inaugurated our temple, which is where we still celebrate our services.

From the beginning, we received pastors who were sent by God to work here, and we created the Council of Pastors, which supervises all the areas of the church. Besides that, with the growth of the branches, new churches were emancipated and sent to serve God on their neighborhoods. Many pastors have been trained and ordained. Many missionaries have been prepared and sent to the field.

Our main programs now focus the national and transcultural missionary mobilization. We also act in partnership with organizations, aiming the reaching of the lost, the poor and the helpless.

– We believe in the Trinity of God as the expression of the one God, through the three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;

– We believe in the bible as the eternal and unfailing Word of God. It was written by men who were inspired by God, and through it’s teachings we are guided in the Truth;

– We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to the world to die, resurrect and take his place at the right hand of God. We are certain that through His sacrifice we receive, in repentance and faith, forgiveness from our sins and certainty of eternal life with God;

– We believe in the presence of the Holy Spirit of God in our lives. He brings regeneration, sanctification and capacity for us to live a supernatural life in this world. The Holy Spirit is the guarantee that we belong to God and that we’ll go to the Father in glory;

– We believe on the foundation of the church by Jesus Christ himself, and that it is the agent of the Kingdom of God on earth. We proclaim the unity of the saved ones in the spiritual bond of love, in Christ;

– We believe in the coming of the Lord Jesus to take His church and in the resurrection of the dead for eternal salvation of the saints and final judgement of the wicked.
