A STEP OF FAITH

When you decide to go on a missionary project, to reach your neighbor, you choose to believe in the infinite grace and goodness of God. Believing that He’s the one who will do all things, we just need to throw the seeds.

WHAT DO WE WANT?

The Igreja Batista de Vilas do Atlântico has been seriously investing on missions, fulfilling with love and responsibility the commission of Jesus. Our project to reach souls was elaborated through two strategies:

• Local, where the activity is made inside the state, on a 120 mile radius, and not further.
• Transcultural, with activities and missionaries in other regions of Brazil and abroad, taking the Word to the ends of the Earth.

“Projeto Vida” is a punctual action of impact from IBVA on the local community, that brings communitarian work, moments of worship and preaching of the Gospel.

It happens on the beach in our neighborhood, usually with two moments: a “luau”, with a lot of music, theater plays and prayer moments, and the second moment is on the next day, from morning until sunset, where we take the Gospel and serve the community with many activities – medical and psychological care, massage therapy, aerobic activities, group walks, sports, surf tournaments, children ministry, and also personal and creative evangelism.

Our goal is to interact with the local population, taking Jesus though the preached word and the love that He taught us, gathering all the members of the church, no matter the age group.

Prayer Requests:

• That the members of the church embrace the project even more, causing more impact on those who do not know Jesus.
• That the fruits of “Projeto Vida” perpetuate and get multiplied.
• That the next impact actions reach more and more people.

The “Pé na Estrada” project consists on visiting small and poor villages, usually far from the church’s head office, within a 120 mile radius.

On the chosen region, the missionary group travels to attend the population in need, bringing them food, clothing, toys and giving dental and medical care, aside from bringing a joyful theater group that entertains and takes the simple practical Gospel, through the exciting plays, leading to an outdoors service to the whole community, with a good sound and light structure on the missions truck.

Prayer Requests:

• For guidance on the future campaigns.
• For the breaking of the resistance to the Gospel and the idolatry in the cities that will be visited, with healing and deliverance of the locals.
• For spiritual preparation of the leaders and the teams that join the campaigns.

The Surf Ministry of IBVA has the goal of sharing the good news of Jesus with the surfers of our region, so that we can follow Him together as a community. We gather weekly, with groups stablished by the leadership, and work with 3 strategies to reach this group: “Seja Ligado” (Be Connected), where we can initiate relationships in activities like personal surfing, on different medias or group events; “Discipular” (Discipling), focused on accompanying those who are already involved; and “Servir” (Serving), where we have activities to attend the necessities of the surf community, like discipleship, events, and communitarian development. And, since 2017, the Surf Ministry of IBVA works together with the Christian Surfers International mission.

Prayer requests:

• For the volunteers, and that we can receive opportunities through serving, doing everything with excellence.
• For faith to increase, and the strengthening of personal relationships.
• For creativity on the ministry to reach the community.

“2Toques” has the purpose of taking the Gospel of Jesus, utilizing football as the main tool, creating then, the opportunity for individuals and communities to be saved.

Prayer Requests:

• For the strengthening of the ministry.
• For the conclusion and implementation of the new projects from this ministry.
• For the coming of new members and volunteers.

Annually, IBVA gathers a group of members who are willing to go to the Northeast countryside of Brazil, where the population suffers with drought, terrible life conditions and are oppressed by religiosity. We go with the purpose to bring them not only material food and medical care, which they really need, but also and most importantly the spiritual food.

The message of the Gospel is preached with music, impactful theater plays, children ministry, personal evangelism, prayer and worship, bible and handout distribution, besides following up with discipleship.

The teams, composed of teenagers and young adults, work for 15 days, and are directed to groups of cities and villages on the same region, while a support team is stablished on the biggest city to help the other teams with supplies and whatever they need. Our goal is to lead lives to Christ and help these people in need, bringing food packs and medical care to the communities. We also aim to equip the local churches to receive and take care of the saved people.

Prayer Requests:

• For the plans of God for the cities we are going to on the next campaigns.
• For the participants to already live the supernatural of God now, and that they have financial provision to go.
• For the cities we’ve already visited, and for the churches to be capacitated and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Even though we might not be on a campaign right now, it is crucial that you remember to pray for this project, for God to be already guiding and preparing us.
